Addressing Issues with the Town's Property Tax / Homeowner Grant Application

One of the issues currently facing many residents is difficulty or inability to use the Property Tax / Homeowner Grant application on the Town's website. The Town aknowledges this, and while many residents may be able to rectify the issue by simply changing their internet browser, the Town is also working to revamp/reconfigure the application. It is anticipated that this revamping will be complete within the next 30 days, so that residents may have full use of the Town's application. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Town of Creston Youth Engagement Strategy

You may or may not know that the Town of Creston has been undertaking a Youth Engagement Strategy (YES) over the past 4 months. In April 2013, following the success of the Community Directed Youth Funds (CDYF) application, the Town of Creston applied for CBT's $15,000 Youth Engagement Strategic Fund, to be used for development of a community-wide youth ‘strategic plan’. After being approved for the grant in July, the Town of Creston contracted BC Healthy Communities (BCHC) to develop a ‘Youth Engagement Strategy’, much like BCHC has previously done in Castlegar (2011). The primary research methodologies used are surveys, asset mapping sessions, key informant interviews, and consultations with youth, service providers, and the community. Data and information are collected to analyze youth engagement in the Creston Valley. The Town has now completed most of its research, but there is still time left to provide input to this exciting process. For all youth engagement information, please visit the Town's page --

Citizen Satisfaction Survey: Prize Draw Results Released

During the month of December, the Town of Creston sent out a Citizen Satisfaction Survey to 1000 randomly selected households. By selecting 1000 households at random, the Town and partner Defero-West Local Government Consulting were able to produce a statistically valid survey that allowed respondents to share their opinions, ideas and feedback about Creston as a community, and the Town of Creston as their municipal government.

As a bonus, those who were gracious enough to take time out of their day to fill out the survey were given an opportunity to participate in a draw for one of 8 prizes, including a grand prize round of golf for 2 (with cart). While the results will also be posted in the Creston Valley Advance (January 30 & February 6 editions), we have an advance copy of the results for our loyal website viewers. Should you be one of the lucky winners, please contact Town staff at 250.428.2214 (x239) or visit Town Hall in person with your ticket. See the list of winners HERE.
