Welcome to the Town of Creston
(updated August 11, 2010)

Creston is a community of approximately 5000 people, located on Highway #3 and near Highway #21, in the heart of the Kootenays. The Creston Valley's southern boundary is the US Border at the state of Idaho, and the northern landmark is the Kootenay Lake, at an elevation of 1740 feet.  We are nestled in an agricultural valley and surrounded by the stunning Selkirk and Purcell mountain ranges.

Creston Valley winters are usually mild, and spring comes early to this rich agricultural valley. The Creston Golf Club opened on March 5th this season.  Kootenay Lake is a 20 minute drive north of Creston and offers recreational opportunities for visitors and residents.

Exciting changes are now happening in Creston.  Creston Place, a three-level retail and office building is under construction on Canyon Street (our downtown main street); this is the first new downtown building in over 25 years.  The Creston & District Community Complex OPENED their new indoor aquatic pools and fitness facility on June 26th; this $18 million, 2-year construction project is a "must see and use" facility.  Tim Hortons OPENED their Creston location on July 23rd to offer 24-hour service to locals and tourists.

Other commercial projects are on the drawing board and announcements are expected shortly.

This website is designed to provide residents, visitors and business owners with basic community information on core town business topics.

The Mayor's page is kept updated, and you are welcome to contact him with your comments.
