Creston Valley Health Working Group, Physician Recruitment Program

It is with pleasure we announce that Dr. Jeremy Kass is expected to commence work at the office of Dr. D. Hoffmann by late January.  We welcome both he and his wife, who will be settling in Creston over the next few weeks.  They look forward to becoming an active part of the Creston Valley community.

Residents of Creston Valley without a physician may call on Monday, January 12th, between the hours of 9 and 12, to 250.428.5381.  Additional times for inquiries will be posted as they become available.  Kindly do not overwhelm the clinic with inquiries except during the times as noted.   Thank you for your understanding.

CVHWG has again successfully recruited a new physician!

It is with pleasure we announce that Dr. Jeremy Kass, having completed his Family Practice residency in New York this past year, will be relocating to Creston with his wife.

Dr. Kass has visited the community and met with our current physicians.  The sense that Creston would be a great choice for him was mutual.  Both he and his wife are very much looking forward to calling Creston "home"

Further details as to where he will be practicing are currently in discussion.  It is anticipated that information in this regard will be forthcoming within the next few weeks.  As soon as available, it will be posted both here and a notice will be in the Creston Valley Advance.

Physician Recruitment GOOD NEWS!

CVHWG is pleased to announce the successful recruitment and pending arrival of Dr. Eleanor Huettmeyer (GP & GP Anesthesia) and her husband, Philip Curran (Pharmacist) to the Creston Valley!

Dr. Eleanor Huettmeyer and Phillip have very recently welcomed a new addition to their family, a baby boy.

Phillip will be working at Pharmasave, Creston and Dr. Huettmeyer will be working (although not starting for quite some time as she cares for their newborn) out of Summit Medical Clinic.

Announcements as to patient appointments, etc will come directly from Summit Medical Clinic.

The successful recruitment of physicians to care for the citizens of the Creston Valley has been due to the collective commitment of the Creston Valley Health Working Group, a group formed in 2006 and made up of representatives from: current physicians practicing in Creston, Interior Health, the Town of Creston and the Regional District of Central Kootenay.

This unique and comprehensive award-winning program addresses the multiple layers of recruitment, as well as successful integration of newly arrived physicians to Creston. Facilitated by our Physician Recruitment Consultant, this program is supported and funded by the Regional District Directors of Electoral Areas B & C and the Town of Creston.

Successes of the program are made evident by the requitment of 4 permanent physicians to Creston in the past 18 months, including 2 physicians who provide enhanced skills in anesthesia and obstetrics.

Additionally, several locum physicians have provided relief for existing physicians to take much needed breaks, as well as filling physician absentee gaps.

New physicians and the ongoing recruitment of qualified candidates are sourced through referrals from Health Match BC and Interior Health, as well as personal contact made at physician conferences and events. Additionally, national advertising in medical journals has been provided by Interior Health.

Family Practice Physicians with recent ER experience, eligible for licensure with College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC, are invited to contact Marilin States, Physician Recruitment Consultant,
