Voter Registration

The qualifications for electors are set out in the Local Government Act. Electors fall into two categories:

Resident Electors
Resident electors must be:
· 18 years of age or older on voting day;
· Canadian Citizen;
· Resident of British Columbia for at least 6 months immediately before voting day; and,
· Resident of the Town of Creston for at least 30 days immediately before voting day.

In order to register as a resident elector, please complete the registration application below and bring the completed form to the Town Office.

You will need to bring two pieces of identification (one with a signature) to prove both residency and identity. If you do not have identification showing residency, you must still provide 2 pieces of identification and make a solemn declaration as to your place of residence. (Picture identification is not necessary.)

Non-Resident Electors
Non-resident electors must:
· Not be entitled to register as a resident elector;
· Be 18 years of age or older on voting day;
· Be a Canadian Citizen;
· Have been a resident of British Columbia for at least 6 months immediately before voting day; and,
· Have been a registered owner of real property in the jurisdiction for at least 30 days immediately before voting day.

In order to register as a non-resident elector, please complete the registration application below and bring it to the Town Office. You must also provide 2 pieces of identification, as described above. Proof of property ownership will also be required by attaching a copy of the Title and or documentation from a Lawyer or Notary Public, which certifies that the land transfer is in process.
