RDCK News - floods - March 2017

The Regional District of Central Kootenay has activated its Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) due to numerous small flood and slide events throughout the district.


“Public safety is the RDCK’s number one priority,” says Andrew Bellerby, EOC Director and General Manager of Fire and Emergency Services. “The RDCK is ready to assist our residents in case of emergency, if needed.”


Residents are asked to stay alert for signs of flooding or slides. They are also encouraged to read the debris flow brochure available on the RDCK website at: http://www.rdck.ca/assets/Services/Emergency~Management/Documents/2016-02-19-Debris%20Flow%20Hazard%20Brochure_FINAL.pdf


To report any debris indicators or hazards, or in the event of an emergency, residents can call the 24-hour provincial Emergency Coordination Centre toll-free number at 1-800-663-3456.


For sand and sandbags, homeowners can contact their local Emergency Program Coordinator:
