Please be advised that the Town of Creston will be treating Steve's Ride Trail with the herbicide Glyphosate to eradicate poison hemlock. The Glyphosate application will take place beginning at approximately 5 am on Thursday, July 25 (weather permitting) and the trail CLOSED to the public. The trail will reopen on Saturday, July 27. In addition to treating Steve's Ride Trail, the Town will also be treating other affected areas that are not on public property but that are associated with Town infrastructure. Information notices will be posted at the trail head and the affected areas will be marked with stakes, flagging tape and signage.

It is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to note that in addition to being invasive, poison hemlock poses an acute human health risk. All parts of the plant are DEADLY to people, livestock, and wildlife when ingested.

More information regarding poison hemlock can be found on the Central Kootenay Invasive Species Society website: https://ckiss.ca/species/poison-hemlock/. If you have any questions regarding the Town's usage of Glyphosate to eradicate poison hemlock, please phone us here at Town Hall - 250-428-2214. We thank you for your cooperation.
