[ARCHIVED] COVID-19 Update - March 27, 2020

Creston, BC March 27, 2020: Creston, as we move into the weekend remember that you are the most valuable asset we have in managing any emergency. If we work together, we can stop the spread of COVID-19 in our community.  Remember to wash your hands, stay home except for essential visits to the grocery store, and most of all remember to be kind to each other.

Creston Valley Farmers’ Market: Farmers markets, along with grocery stores, have been deemed an essential service. They will remain open to ensure that local food products are available to the community. The Creston Valley Farmer’s Market is working hard to adapt to the changing environment, including developing and implementing increased hygiene practices for onsite markets, moving to online sales of local product and ensuring they follow the Provincial Medical Health Officer’s Orders. More information regarding our local Farmer’s Market will be available soon.

Non-Essential Businesses: The Provincial Health Officer (PHO) has ordered some types of businesses, (Personal Service Establishments, Bars, Pubs, and Clubs) to close and Ordered Restaurants to move to take out and delivery models. Additionally, Emergency Management BC, in consultation with other government ministries developed a list of COVID-19 Essential Services.  Any business or service that has not been ordered to close and is not identified on the essential service list may stay open if it can adapt its services and workplace to the PHO orders. Things change quickly, so we suggest monitoring www.news.gov.bc.ca for daily PHO updates.
