Creston, BC – April 24, 2020: For the past eight weeks, new information regarding COVID-19 has been released on an almost daily basis. From case counts, and press releases, to financial supports - the amount of information can be overwhelming.  The Town of Creston has been compiling and updating our website with relevant and trusted COVID-19 resources and information. Canada’s Economic Response Plan: Canada’s Economic Response Plan outlines benefits available to individuals, businesses and sectors. Over the past few weeks, the response plan has grown to include specific supports for students, post-secondary students and recent graduates who are impacted by COVID-19. More details on these benefits will be released by the Federal government in the near future. Today, the Prime Minister announced rent relief for small businesses in British Columbia via the new federal-provincial Canada Emergency Commercial Rent Assistance program (CECRA). Launching mid-May, it will seek to provide loans and/or forgivable loans to commercial property owners. British Columbia’s COVID-19 Action Plan: British Columbia’s COVID-19 Action Plan includes immediate measures to help individuals and families cope with potential illness, financial strain or precarious employment. It also adds funding to key services, such as health care, housing and social services, to make sure they continue to support British Columbians and help contain the spread of COVID-19. These supports include temporary relief for BC residents whose ability to work has been affected by COVID-19 though the B.C.
