Creston, BC – July 17, 2020: The Town of Creston Emergency Operation Centre continues to monitor the media and build situational knowledge of COVID-19 to ensure that our community is ready to respond to any changes in the Provincial response to COVID-19 pandemic. Your continued cooperation, kindness and patience during this time are greatly appreciated.

BCCDC Study regarding Serology Testing: On Wednesday July 15, 2020, the BC Centre for Disease Control, with support from LifeLabs and Michael Smith Foundation, released a study outlining the results of initial serology testing within our province. The report notes that BC has been effective in flattening the COVID-19 curve by following the precautions laid out by the Provincial Health Authorities; however, Dr. Bonnie Henry notes that, “The study also shows us that our province does not have sufficient immunity to prevent a second wave.”

Federal Safe Restart Agreement: The federal government announced the Safe Restart Agreement yesterday. The Safe Restart Agreement, supported by over $19 billion in federal investments, is focused on helping the provinces and territories restart the economy over the next six to eight months.

Extension to the Canada/US Border Measures: Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, announced that Canada and the United States have agreed to extend the current border measures, which closes the border to all non-essential travel, until August 21, 2020.
