[ARCHIVED] COVID-19 Update - October 20, 2020

Creston, BC – October 20, 2020:  Creston Residents, a reminder to continue your efforts to keep yourself, family, friends and neighbors healthy and safe while we navigate the COVID-19 pandemic.  Dr. Bonnie Henry’s Golden Rules, which include: physical distancing, washing your hands, staying home if you are feeling ill, increasing cleanliness in your home and at work, sticking to a group of six, covering your cough, socializing safely and wearing a mask when you can’t maintain physical distance, can help reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our community.

COVID-19 Testing for Children and Youth: Kids can now do a mouth-rinse and gargle test for COVID-19. It's a more comfortable way to get tested, and available to children with COVID-19-symptoms from kindergarten to grade 12.

Before the test, your child should:

  • Practice the swish, gargle and spit technique with salty water at home
  • Have a mask to wear to the collection centre
  • Avoid eating, drinking, chewing gum, or brushing their teeth at least one hour before the test

For more information on COVID-19 testing for youth and children, visit the BC Centre for Disease Control's testing guidelines:  http://www.bccdc.ca/health-info/diseases-conditions/covid-19/testing/children-youth

To book a test in Creston, please call Public Health at (250) 254-2055.
