Creston, BC October 30, 2020 – Creston, whether you are spending your Halloween tucked away inside or you are out trick-or-treating, Town of Creston Council and staff wish you a healthy, safe and fun evening. Remember, if you do not wish to, or for any reason cannot hand out treats this year, please turn your porch light off. Trick-or-treaters, please avoid homes without a porch light.  It is necessary that we work together to respect each other as we partake in our Halloween festivities during the COVID-19 pandemic.  Remember, no parties or gatherings outside your safe six, trick or treat in small groups, pass out treats carefully, include non-medical masks in your costumes, and wash your hands often. Provincial Health Officer Order on Household Gatherings:  Dr. Bonnie Henry stated, “Our COVID-19 safety efforts start at home, and recently we have seen a number of new cases and clusters directly connected to social events in private homes. That is why there is now a provincial health order in place restricting the number of people who can safely be in our homes.” On Monday, October 26 the Provincial Health Officer Ordered that all households must limit gatherings to no more than their immediate household (people living at home) plus a maximum of six others.  For more information on this Order, please visit: https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/safety/emergency-preparedness-response-recovery/covid-19-provincial-support/gatherings-at-private-homes#order  

Provincial State of Emergency:  The Province of British Columbia has formally extended the provincial state of emergency allowing health and emergency management officials to continue to use extraordinary powers under the Emergency Program Act to support the Province’s COVID-19 pandemic response.
