[ARCHIVED] COVID-19 Update - December 22, 2020

Creston, BC December 22, 2020: Creston Residents, 2020 has been challenging for all of us, and this year it might be especially difficult to feel like celebrating our holiday traditions.  However, in the face of a pandemic, this community has repeatedly demonstrated incredible kindness and resiliency to changing circumstances. In our opinion – that is cause for celebration.  Thank you for everything you have done, and continue to do, to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our community.  On behalf of Town of Creston Council and staff we wish you, your friends and family a very Merry Christmas. 

Mental Health Resources:  If you are experiencing anxiety, low moods, depression or having any difficulty coping with the impacts of COVID-19 please don’t be afraid to reach out for support. Below are some resources available to you:  

  • Valley Community Services– offering emotional support to people in the Creston Valley to those experiencing difficulty due to the impacts of COVID-19 (
  • Wellness Together Canada – providing free online resources, tools, apps and connections to trained mental health professionals (
  • Here 2 Talk – available to all students currently registered in BC post-secondary institution providing free access to confidential counselling (

Grant Program now Accessible to more B.C. Businesses: Businesses impacted by the pandemic will be eligible to receive a grant up to $30,000. The grant for the tourism sector has been increased, meaning those hardest-hit businesses in the tourism sector will be eligible for a grant up to $45,000. Adjustments made to the Small and Medium-Sized Business Recovery Grant program include a streamlined application process and simplified criteria. For example, the criteria has been expanded from a minimum revenue drop of 50% to a drop of 30%.
