It’s almost spring and that means it’s time to say goodbye to winter by starting our annual street sweeping in the Town of Creston! Look for our street sweeper and water truck out and about starting this week (March 15th).

Our street sweeping schedule begins with sweeping the downtown, then school zones, the hospital area, care facilities, main arterial routes and then residential areas which are done on a rotational basis each year. 

Did you know? We wait to start street sweeping until pavement temperatures consistently remain above zero. The sweeper utilizes a fine water spray to keep the dust from the street dampened down. If the temperatures are below freezing, the water spray freezes and the dust and debris remain frozen to the pavement and cannot be removed. The long range forecast predicts that temperatures will be slowly increasing over the next few weeks and is therefore favourable for starting our street sweeping program.
