Creston, BC March 19, 2021: Yesterday the Provincial Health Officer provided an update on BC’s COVID-19 Immunization Plan. Beginning in April, people in priority groups identified by public health and the COVID-19 Workplace Task Group will start to receive their first dose of the AstraZeneca/SII COVISHIELD (AZ/SII) Vaccine. These groups include:
- first responders (police, firefighters, emergency transport);
- K-12 educational staff;
- child care staff;
- grocery store workers;
- postal workers;
- bylaw and quarantine officers;
- manufacturing workers;
- wholesale/warehousing employees;
- staff living in congregate housing at places such as ski hills;
- correctional facilities staff; and
- cross-border transport staff.
Vaccine appointments for priority-based workers will be coordinated through employers – there is no need to call into call centres, please keep the phone lines open for age-based bookings.
Book your Vaccine Appointment Eligible Seniors: Interior Health is currently booking eligible seniors for their COVID-19 vaccine by age group according to the following schedule:
- Seniors born in or before 1940 (81+), Aboriginal people (First Nations, Métis Inuit) born in or before 1956 (65+), and Elders may book from Thursday, March 18.
- Seniors born in or before 1941 (80+) may book from Friday, March 19.
- Seniors born in or before 1942 (79+) and Aboriginal people born in or before 1966 (55+) may book from Saturday, March 20 from 12:00 pm PDT.
- Seniors born in or before 1943 (78+) may book from Monday, March 22 from 12:00 pm PDT.
- Seniors born in or before 1944 (77+) may book from Tuesday, March 23 from 12:00 pm PDT.
- Seniors born in or before 1945 (76+) may book from Thursday, March 25 from 12:00 pm PDT.
- Seniors born in or before 1946 (75+) may book from Saturday, March 27 from 12:00 pm PDT.
