August 12, 2021: Public Service Announcement
Creston has had a very sharp increase in COVID-19 active cases, with 17 cases being reported on the BC Centre for Disease Control dashboard for the period of August 1 – 7, 2021. Today, August 12, Interior Health has confirmed that the current number of test positive COVID-19 cases in Creston is now higher. While most cases are in unvaccinated or partially vaccinated people, fully vaccinated people can also carry COVID-19 – including the Delta variant – and infect others even though they may have minimal or no symptoms.
As a community, the best way that we can protect ourselves and each other from COVID-19 and severe illness is to get vaccinated with both doses, and be vigilant with our COVID-19 prevention protocols – remember to wash your hands, and stay home if you are feeling unwell. We also recommend wearing a mask in indoor public spaces.
Interior Health and the Town of Creston will be hosting a COVID-19 pop up vaccination clinic at Town Hall, Council Chambers, on Tuesday, August 17 from 9:30 am – 3:30 pm for anyone in the area born 2009 or earlier who have not yet received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, or anyone who received their first dose more than 28 days ago. People can walk-up, register and receive their first or second COVID-19 vaccine.
And, if you have questions about the COVID-19 vaccine and want to speak with a healthcare professional, feel free to drop in to the clinic to chat with the amazing Interior Health staff … no appointment (or needle!) necessary.
