Property Tax Deferment

Property Tax Deferment for Financial Hardship
The provincial government has announced that the Property Tax Deferment Program will be temporarily available to homeowners who are facing financial hardship due to recent global economic events.

Homeowners must have 15% equity in their homes and attest that they are experiencing financial hardship due to the economic crisis. More details on how to apply will be released by the provincial government before tax notices are issued in May 2009. This program will be available for 2009 and 2010.

Property Tax Deferment for Seniors
The Property Tax Deferment Program for home owners 55 years of age or older, and for people with disabilities, is available for residents of British Columbia. To be eligible, you must have at least 25% equity in your home, based on assessed values.
