The Town of Creston Noise Control Bylaw No. 1389 is in place to ensure that everyone can enjoy peace and quiet within the vicinity of the Town of Creston, without disruption from noise or disturbances.
Noises covered by the bylaw include:
- radios, stereo or amplification equipment;
- construction or other machinery before 7:00 a.m. and after 10:00 p.m.;
- construction, demolition, excavation or reconstruction for profit on a Sunday or statutory holiday;
- outdoor public address systems, unless a permit has been obtained from the Town.
Please note that the bylaw specifies that property owners, as well as tenants, are not to allow noises or sounds that disturb the peace, quiet, rest and enjoyment of their property.
Exceptions to the bylaw include emergency equipment, such as a police car, ambulance or fire truck responding to an emergency, and emergency repairs to property.
The Noise Bylaw is enforced by the Town Bylaw Enforcement Officers weekdays, during normal business hours. For weekend or after hours complaints, please contact the RCMP.
