Property Maintenance

The Town of Creston Property Clean Up Bylaw No. 1306 requires property owners and occupiers to keep properties in a sightly condition.

This bylaw specifies that the following types of matter not be allowed to collect or accumulate on a property:

  • rubbish;
  • wrecked motor vehicles or vehicle parts;
  • noxious, offensive or unwholesome matter;
  • dead, diseased or rotting trees or brush;
  • noxious weeds or other growth;
  • grafitti;
  • broken glass, bottles or other rubbish.

Property fronting a boulevard must be maintained in a state of repair, which includes the regular cutting of any grass or ground cover.

Upon receipt of a formal complaint, a Bylaw Enforcement Officer will conduct an inspection of the property. If it is in contravention of the bylaw, notice will be given to the owner or occupier, directing that the property be cleaned up. Failure to comply with such a notice can result in Town crews entering the property and conducting the work at the expense of the property owner.
