Mayor’s Message – update January 2013
On behalf of our Town Council, I am pleased to introduce you to the Town of Creston and our website. Thank you for checking us out online.
Creston is alive with community spirit and volunteers. Our dedicated community groups and service clubs have built a strong foundation of amenities in the Creston Valley.
Spend time at our Millenium Park, located on 16th Avenue South to relax on a park bench or watch the koi swim. Conveniently located next door is our RV parking, with sanitary unload facility and potable water filling station. Centennial Park is located on Erickson Road just east of Highway #21. Here our local Rotary Clubs have built a water “splash park”, a youth outdoor play gym and an outdoor seniors’ fitness workout area.
Our Creston Valley Chamber of Commerce, located in the downtown area, houses our BC Tourism information centre which provides public washrooms for your use.
Our Creston Valley has many venues that will interest you:
Creston Valley Farmer’s Market: Held on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. by the Chamber of Commerce, this market is a great place to find some of the best locally grown food the Creston Valley has to offer.
Creston Valley Wildlife Management Area: 17,000 acres of Provincial Crown land that includes a lake, 17 marshes, a river and borders several mountain slopes.
Creston Museum: Opened in 1982, the museum brings history to life through its vibrant and engaging interpretation of events.
Creston & District Public Library: Open 5 days a week, the library offers a wide array of programs and services to the region.
Creston & District Community Complex (indoor pool & fitness centre): A modern facility that features a gym, ice arena, indoor swimming pool, indoor courts and a fitness centre for valley residents to have fun and stay active.
Creston Valley Regional Airport: Owned by the Town of Creston, this airport is used for many purposes including recreational tourism, ambulance service and wildfire mitigation.
Creston Golf Club: Located 3 kilometers south of Creston off Highway 21 sits a professionally designed golf course that is challenging, relaxing and fun for golfers of all skill levels.
Come visit our beautiful community and see what we have to offer!
