Creston Valley Regional Airport Master Plan

The Creston Valley Regional Airport is a vital hub for the region—supporting air ambulance, wildfire response, commercial operations, and private aviation. Owned by the Town of Creston and operated by the Creston Valley Regional Airport Society, the airport is financially supported through a shared valley service of the Regional District of Central Kootenay. With a 3,944-foot runway, airfield lighting, and key supporting infrastructure, the airport plays a crucial role in ensuring safety, connectivity, and economic activity in the region.

To support the long-term sustainability and strategic development of this important community asset, the Town of Creston engaged HM Aero Aviation Consulting to undertake a comprehensive, multiphase Economic Viability Study. This initiative was designed to:

  • Gather insights from community members and airport stakeholders;

  • Evaluate and communicate the airport’s economic and social contributions;

  • Build a strong business case grounded in current operations and future potential;

  • Develop a forward-looking Airport Master Plan to guide infrastructure investment, governance, operations, and opportunities for growth.

The Master Plan sets the stage for a vibrant and sustainable future for the Creston Valley Regional Airport. This project has been made possible with financial support from the Province of British Columbia through the British Columbia Air Access Program.
