Please be advised that extreme heat is forecast for Creston and surrounding areas from Wednesday, July 22 to Thursday, July 23. Temperatures of 35 degrees Celsius and higher are expected over the next 2 days. In addition, smoke continues to cause poor air quality and reduced visibility.

What to do:
- Avoid unnecessary travel or exposure outdoors.
- Stay hydrated.
- Watch for the effects of heat illness: heavy sweating, rash, cramps, fainting, high body temperature and the worsening of some health conditions.
- Never leave susceptible people, particularly children, or pets inside a parked vehicle.
- If you are in an overheated area, seek a cool place such as a tree-shaded area, splash pad, misting station, or air-conditioned spot like a public building.
- Postpone or reduce strenuous outdoor activities until the air quality warning has ended.
- Spend time indoors in a space with cleaner air.
A ridge of high pressure will bring elevated temperature to the region. Daytime highs are expected to be in the low to mid 30s with overnight lows in the mid to high teens. Warm temperatures may persist until Friday, followed by a cooling trend.
