What do you do with your used cooking oil?
One thing's for sure: it shouldn't go down the drain. Used cooking oil can disrupt septic systems and cause costly blockages in sewer lines. Tossing it in the garbage isn't ideal either, as it can contribute to environmental pollution.
The good news? Residents and small businesses in the Creston area can recycle their used cooking oil for free at the Creston Landfill (1501 Mallory Road), with quantities of up to 10 litres per day accepted.
RDCK is piloting the program, in partnership with Leduc Industrial Inc., giving used cooking oil a second life by upcycling it into a high-quality concrete release agent.
