To support FireSmart practices and reduce backyard burning, the RDCK waives tipping fees for Yard & Garden Waste at the Creston Landfill during the months of: April and October.
Accepted Yard & Garden Waste
- Hedge clippings
- Weeds
- Shrubs
- Shrub and tree branches (5–25 cm / 2–6″ diameter)
Not Accepted as Yard & Garden Waste
(These items will be charged regular tipping fees)
- Tree stumps
- Noxious weeds
- Infectious plant material (as identified by CFIA)
- Rocks, sand, waste soil
- Fruit or vegetable material
- Chipped wood waste
- Food waste or compostable kitchen scraps
Important Guidelines
Limit: One pick-up truck load (≤ 2.5 m³) per customer per day
Commercial Loads: Must be taken to a landfill and may be subject to tipping fees
Transport: Material must be loose and secured; bags must be emptied and removed by the customer
Declaration: All loads must be declared to the site attendant for weighing or volume estimation
Patience: Expect delays; space may be limited and staff may restrict load numbers based on site capacity
