Town of Creston Responding to Water Main Break
Creston, BC – August 1, 2026
The Town of Creston is responding to a water main break that occurred at approximately 4:45 a.m. on Saturday morning.
The break resulted in flooding and erosion impacts in the surrounding area. At this time, four residential structures have sustained moderate damage, including mud and sediment entering basements. Town staff are working directly with affected residents and continue to assess conditions and impacts.
As a precautionary measure, chlorination levels within the Town of Creston's water distribution system will be increased for approximately 48 to 72 hours to help ensure system sanitation and protect public health.
The affected section of the water system has been isolated, and repairs are underway. To maintain adequate water supply for fire protection purposes while repair work continues, a water restriction notice has been issued for the community. Residents are asked to reduce non-essential water use until further notice.
